A solar fridge or solar refrigerator is operated with electricity generated by a photovoltaic system. Photovoltaic systems are well suited for operating solar refrigerators as stand-alone solutions that have battery storage. Not every refrigerator is suitable for operation with electrical energy from the solar system, as ordinary refrigerators consume quite a lot of electricity. Thus typically energy-efficient appliances are being used. As such compressor technology is often used because it offers the highest energy savings. An advantage of such solar refrigerators with compressor technology is that these devices have a cold accumulator. They can then also bridge a short period without energy supply. Longer periods without sun are then bridged with a solar battery.
