Solar vehicles are vehicles that draw their drive energy directly from solar radiation. The vast majority of solar vehicles do this by means of photovoltaics, i.e. they are equipped with solar cells on the surface that convert the solar energy on the vehicle into electricity. Electric vehicles that draw their electrical energy exclusively from a stationary photovoltaic system and charge their energy storage there are not counted as solar vehicles, even if the energy they charge was generated purely by solar power. These vehicles are considered grid-connected electric vehicles.
A solar-powered electric tricycle can be used for the transport of people of for the delivery of small cargos. A solar-powered electric tricycle can for example have a reach of 120-200 km (image) whereas one part comes from the full battery an another part from the solar power retrieved while driving.
